Join this well-funded, venture-backed start-up creating a revolutionary new generation of robots to revitalize American manufacturing. We are look for a Senior Quality Engineering Manager to join our global supply chain group based in Boston’s Innovation District. In this hands-on position, you’ll establish the robotics’ quality engineering function and will work closely with our component suppliers and contract manufacturing partners to successfully launch new products. Consideration will be given only to candidates with relevant experience manufacturing complex electromechanical systems and extensive supplier quality management skills.
Responsibilities:
- Establish and execute comprehensive quality management programs and develop strong peer relationships with our contract manufacturing partners
- Evaluate and qualify new component suppliers and ensure partners are prepared to support the production ramp
- Implement a first article approval process, establish quality standards and oversee 3rd party source quality services
- Develop metrics, conduct regular site audits, monitor ongoing quality performance, and drive continuous improvement actions with key supply partners and contract manufacturers
- Lead the qualification of new component production tooling and fixtures
- Establish and drive a supplier corrective action process
- Regularly communicate quality performance and improvement status with supply partners and the company’s functional teams
Requirements:
- BS in Industrial/Mechanical Engineering or related discipline plus a minimum of 10 years experience in quality engineering for manufacturing, at least 5 years in a leadership role
- Prior experience establishing a quality function and programs at a start-up or comparable organization
- Certified Six Sigma Green Belt or higher; Quality assurance certification (CQE, CQA, CQM) desirable
- Position requires strong working knowledge of tooling and processes used to manufacture precision mechanical components (e.g. injection molded plastics, production machining, casting, sintering and stamping)
- Microsoft Access, Excel or other statistical data package skills
- Strong problem solving, facilitation and analytical abilities
- Outstanding written and verbal communications skills
- Domestic and international travel required
