Manufacturing Engineer (filled) (2 – 5 yrs.exper.) – Robotics, Massachusetts

We are seeking a talented Manufacturing Engineer who loveS tackling technical challenges and has a passion for making a big difference in the quality of life for many thousands of people.

We are looking for a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer that will be responsible for the investigation, analysis, development and application of manufacturing processes, which ensure all medical devices meet specification.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Provide technical support, troubleshooting and guidance to production areas including process and test development and problem resolution working under minimal supervision.
  • Design and conduct manufacturing related qualifications and validations; ensure all processes are properly validated prior to production.
  • Interface with design engineering and production to effect product design changes and to introduce new products to manufacturing.
  • Design equipment and processes to improve production methods and quality.  This includes functional testing and mistake proof assembly techniques.
  • Ensure all manufacturing documentation is adequate and complete.  Manage engineering change process related to manufacturing specifications and equipment.
  • Conduct special engineering projects as assigned including data collection and experimentation.
  • Reduce scrap and downtime, and evaluate and recommend disposition of discrepant materials appropriately.
  • Design and/or improve small tooling fixtures, design of product tests, inspections and manufacturing methods.
  • Review and evaluate minor engineering changes and/or other specification requirements.
  • Assurance of high level of compliance to FDA, QSR and ISO Quality Systems.
  • Ability to identify and develop advanced manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to set and maintain the proper rigor for new product developments and testing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent education and/or experience.
  • 2 – 5 years related experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of FDA Quality System Regulations and ISO Quality Stems Requirements.
  • Familiarity with SPC, Experimental Design and Statistical Sampling Techniques.

We are seeking a talented Principal Mechatronic R&D Engineer who love tackling technical challenges and has a passion for making a big difference in the quality of life for many thousands of people.

We are looking for a hands-on senior mechatronic developer / engineer, with an embedded design background – that includes firmware, circuit and power electronic, basic mechanical design, and (bio)physics – to join this research and development team.

Requirements and preferences:

  • Develop embedded processor firmware in C and python test scripts to bring up, calibrate and test new wearable robotic platforms.
  • Design, layout and package DSP, wired and wireless communications, power electronic and battery functions and interconnects in the wearable robot.
  • Develop industrial-strength, hardware abstraction layer control firmware—to include motor current control; actuator impedance and torque control; force and position sensing; battery power supply and battery management functions.
  • Collaborate with other members of the design team to achieve systematic, high-coverage test of the robotic system—to include unit, sub-system, system and customer validation tests.
  • Conduct design verification and design validation tests of the electronic functions and prepare formal test reports covering same.
  • Experience with dsPIC and Arm Cortex processors is desired.
  • The successful candidate will be self guided and creative and have a strong track record in rapid circuit and firmware development of mission critical systems in an Altium / Solidworks design environment.
  • The successful candidate will have strong electro-mechanical packaging skills.

Vice President of Engineering – MetroWest (Boston), Southern NH

Our client is seeking a Vice President of Engineering. This position reports directly to the President, and operates out of their Southern New Hampshire Engineering and Manufacturing facilities.

The centerpiece of this  patented system is a novel radar technology that will support both civilian and military applications. While expert knowledge in radar is not essential, experience working with sensors is considered a plus. This initiative will have  International impact and the founding team has laid a solid foundation of collaborative relationships to leverage the successful launch of this technology.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The VP of Engineering will lead this development team from its current R & D phase to the commercialization of their innovative patented technology. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated technology development experience in a start-up environment, from concept to manufacturing, with a successful track record managing complex projects involving significant software and hardware components.  Candidate must deploy effective engineering management systems that keep projects and commitments on track and within budget.

He or she will be responsible for leading a highly technical, multidisciplinary team, with a schedule-driven, but human touch. We are looking for someone who excels at motivating individuals and promoting a culture of teamwork within and across teams. While this is an Executive role, it is important that candidates have a passion and curiosity for technology, and thrives in the challenge of a creative start-up environment.

He or she must have experience in both the commercial and defense sectors. The candidate needs to be able to navigate the defense landscape.  In addition to the initial applications, this radar technology has strong potential to be applicable in a variety of adjacent markets, including military settings. Also, many of their sub-contractors work exclusively in defense, so familiarity with government as client is a must.

REQUIREMENTS:
BSEE required, MSEE preferred, PhD ideal – other disciplines will be considered
Mix of commercial start-up and defense background at the Manager or Executive level
Experience in commercial technology innovation a must
Experience with radar or sensors is ideal
Successful track record managing complex projects with significant software and hardware components
Track record of deploying effective engineering management systems resulting in projects and commitments remaining on track and within budget
Exceptional communication, presentation, and people skills
Small company/start-up preferred
Experience working through regulatory issues with federal agencies is preferred
